Swifts in Maidenhead, Marlow and Cookham are in catastrophic decline. Help give our swifts a home
About
The Maidenhead, Marlow and Cookham Swift Group was formed in July 2015 to help save local swifts. Numbers have declined by 50% in the last 20 years.
Swifts fly here from Africa to breed and unless they can find suitable nesting sites, they cannot raise chicks.
Projects
Our main project is to establish a Swift Corridor which extends from Marlow in the north, where there is a small population of Swifts, 'via' Cookham which has come close to losing all its Swifts but now has a good number of nestboxes to accommodate a larger future colony, to Maidenhead where there is are large established colonies.
Events
We hold a small number of events a year to help local people find out about swifts and to update them on our projects.
EVENTS for members:
Nest box event
Autumn/winter 2019
Date to be confirmed
Get Involved
We need people to look for swifts nesting in their road and a few surrounding roads.
Could you be a swift spotter for us? Great family-friendly activity and vital for planning swift support in Maidenhead, Marlow and Cookham.
